The Son came 4 a Visit

Son comes home for a visit!

Had an outstanding visit with my son. Came home for a couple of days over the weekend, might be the last time I see him I don't know, but we had a good time. We didn't say much but it was just good to have him here.

Between baseball playoffs, and football games and rather nasty weather, it was rainy and overcast both days, we mostly just hung out talked, watched ballgames, and played on the computers.

Mom just let us be bums and kept us in Oxygen and food.  Probably the last time I will see him and it was nice.  Time to wrap this up, I'm starting to get all weepy.

Been a Difficult 3 Weeks

For the last 3 weeks we have had major forest fires about 20 miles away and the smoke has been thick in the air.  Makes breathing very difficult. I've been practically housebound all this time.  Chest is loading up and making sleep and breathing much more difficult.

Fire finally getting under control and the wind has shifted so the air quality has improved immensely.  Let's hope that clears up my lungs and I can breath easier shortely.  Hospice nurse Betsy, should be here within the hour and we will see if she has some ideas that will help.

Bucket Update-Spanish

Spanish- Well I'm actually beginning to make headway with the Spanish.  Wendy my spanish speaker makes it relaxing to experiment w/the language.  I feel comfortable that I know enough to go into a Mexican (SP) situation and by taking my time, I could make myself understood and understand what is going on.

I have a propensity to pick up words from all different languages that sound alike.  I've always read a lot and most of it was set in international locations.  So I have a lot of sound-a-like phrases and words. Sure lends to confusion.  So if I go to a Spanish Heaven I'll be OK!

Finally Wearing Me Down

Getting wore down!  Today it got to the point that it was just too hard to keep going.  It's getting difficult to eat and breath at the same time.

On tuesdays (today), Kai, my Oxygen guy delivers and my Hospice Nurse, Betsy both come in the Morning while I have energy.  Today, My wife had our neighbor helping her do some much needed bush trimming and Yard work (my job) in the morning also.  Since Betsy was due I took a shower, that is hard to do while staying on Oxygen. Rushed to fix Breakfast and put together some fishing gear to give to Kyle as he is a good fisherman and I'm am no longer in that group.

Also on the schedule was to take the wife out to the range to shoot and sharpen up her skills for self (home) defense.  This means you need to collect all the equipment to make it a safe outing.  All this is being done while dragging around the Oxygen container in order to continue to breath.  When you are doing this, one hand is always attached to that container and every other thing is being down with just one-hand. (I really appreciate folks with a disability).

In the middle of this mess I am surrounded by fires and smoke making it more difficult to breath, we have 160,000 acres burning, to the SE, the NE and East of us. No matter which way the wind blows you cannot get away from the smoke.

Well, I'm carrying gear down the steps to the car, balancing things when I finally lost  the air bottle and all the things and fortunately the ground stopped them so I did not have to go to china to pick them up. I just stared at the mess and leaned on the car, didn't cry but it really got to me.  Dying is trying.  Depressing, and wears you down.

Re:The Bucket List

Bucket List ?

  1. Spanish
  2. Blog
  3. Ancestry
  4. 72 Years of Pictures.

Spanish - Coming along pretty well.  I've learned more Spanish (Mex) in the last month than in the prior 72 years!   Funny I lived in Calif for 50 years and was surrounded by Spanish speakers and never learned.  Now I am in the land of the Norwegians & I'm trying Spanish? Go figure.

I have a  very Special Volunteer teacher named Wendy who is very patient and dedicated.  She keeps it interesting and is not "schoolish" at all. I'm expected to die in the next few months, but the language is important to me.  I put it off for too many years and all of a sudden times up.

Blog - Looking good, this was put together by an old friend that I coached @Moreau H.S.  He does this professionally on a Joomla base. I'm trying to learn Wordpress as I only wish to learn for myself. It is coming along but slowly.  The more I learn the more I find out what I don't know.

Ancestry -  This goes the most slowly, fast start then you hit snags and you must wait and wait to find a new way forward.  Got my family back to the 1700's, but wifes' going slower.  My German side is slow, too many wars in the Germanic culture, My people were primarily farmers (serfs) and when the went to war they disappeared, no documentation!

Photos are about the most difficult. - We had pics on paper not discs.  Therefore you must look at the pic and than try to name the people/place, than you decide if they are keepers or not, have your spouse concur, than scan onto the computer. Than burn a disc etc.,etc.,etc., and finally stop. Exhausting!!

So much for the Bucket for now. I'm out.------------>jimK
